Local Chiropractor Focuses on Community, One Adjustment at a Time

As the community of Riviera Beach makes strides towards redevelopment, Christopher Burnham, D.C. of Premier Injury & Wellness gives his time and skill to help people get out of pain and back to their lives.

When Dr. Burnham noticed a small, local food pantry on his drive to work, he saw an opportunity to help his community. “When people who are living in poverty are in pain, they often have nowhere to go for help,” he says, “I just saw an opportunity to provide some relief to people in need, so I asked if I could set up a table and the coordinator said yes.” Providing free chiropractic adjustments to those in need is part of Dr. Burnham’s mission. “I became a chiropractor simply because I wanted to help people. What better way to help than by starting with my local community?”

Loss of employment due to physical pain is a vicious cycle. A cycle Dr. Burnham hopes to help break. “When I opened my practice earlier this year, I knew I wanted to start by giving back,” Says Burnham, “Riviera Beach is a community that is undergoing significant changes and getting people back in good health and back to work is critical to that change.”

Fight Pain by Fighting Inflammation

Fighting joint pain? In addition to chiropractic and other medical care, one key factor in pain and the healing of our joints and muscles is controlling inflammation. Many major illnesses have been linked to chronic inflammation, such as: diabetes, cancer, heart disease, arthritis, depression, asthma, IBD, and more.

5. Processed meats and red meat

Given that chronic lower back pain affects an estimated 70% of people (some estimates are even as high as 80%) in industrialized nations, it’s surprising that the origins of this pain are often unknown. A recent study published by JAMA Network Open indicates that chiropractic care can alleviate back pain, reporting those receiving chiropractic care reported less pain, increased mobility, and a reduction in their need to take pain medication.
